Sunday 6 May 2007: Heidi and Sarah can't get out of their Borat phase and say "NICE" to the arse in the camera at Sarah's kid's birthday feast!

Sarah says:
Today we celebrated my daughter's birthday with some family and close friends. Don't forget that I have no family here so my close friends, such as Heidi and Nico pictured below with Filip Dewaele, become my sort-of-family and my kid's sort-of family! It means a lot to me to have them at such parties. My friends have always felt more like family to me my whole life so I'm glad I have that feeling here in Belgium too and can pass it on to my kid a bit. It's just important to have those sorts of people in your life - more than just acquaintances! The real thing! I feel so lucky for me and my daughter that we have those sorts of people here and in America.

Heidi and I were being dumb again and couldn't help but imitate Borat. We love the way he says "Nice" all wide-grinned and all. We love Borat and all his fun phrases like "is Nice!" which you can find through this fun link and "wow wow wee waa"- even if he is getting quite dated by now. The arse you see there is from my daughter's newest Barbie. It's Roller-girl Barbie. Heidi and I enjoy it is much as (if not more than) my daughter does!

Good food was had by all this morning. Thankfully we heard on the radio that today has been declared "Diet-Free" Day! Fantastic because man did I eat way too much good stuff. We had a pancake cake for Christ's sake! Layers an Layers of pancakes with a sugar-butter mix between each layer and a chocolate coating on top and on the sides... Yes - I am calling myself fat!!!!! :-)

Sarah adds: Check out "Marv" below! He stopped by while my husband Tom was out for a bit. Marv is starting to look more and more like my husband though - falling asleep at every family party while we decorate him with balloons...reading books by Billy Bragg - hugging books by Billy Bragg... Good old Marv!

Sarah Continues: The below Post Secret entry about pride and it being too late to change and all is the only one that really caught my eye this week. There is something so sad about it. All it makes me think of is this cliche: "It is never too late to change..." Pride is a freaking killer! We all should get over it and ourselves and not let unresolved bullshit get in the way of living well. Let stuff go as fast as it starts to take over. Say sorry. Make that call. Be honest. Don't carry resentment. Say it! Say it now!!! Swallow that damn killer pride. It's unproductive. Name it. Get over it... Go on with life. Anger sucks! Get closure people!
