Black Sunday 10 June 2007: It's a shame!

Heidi says: It is a shame! My heart bleeds. It is such a shame.
There were federal elections today, and the results are shocking.
Belgium is filled with right wing voters. Belgium becomes the land of the selfish. Belgium is becoming black. What is wrong with people? Please tell me what is wrong...
We live in a country that has a great social security. Ok, we pay for it, but it works. We live in a country with luxury. Ok, we work for it, but it pays off. People should be happy here, satisfied. But instead they 'punish' the government, by voting more and more right wing. I feel rage but most of all, unhappiness and sadness. Who are those right voters? Who are you? Do I know you? Do I talk to you on a daily basis? Are you unhappy? Poor? Did everybody treat you so bad that you have no choice but to vote for a party that wants everything for itself, and for it's chosen species? Please tell me why? Because I really don't understand... I really don't...

Ughhhh - what the hell is happening in Europe ... in Belgium. Why are people voting this way? I share Heidi's sentiments here. If I know you and you are voting right-wing why are you voting this way -- tell me!!!! Among other things, these right-wing parties want foreigners out. Are you so afraid of something different that you vote this way? Why are you "right" voters voting this way? I really want to know. Read the newspapers! There aren't even enough people in this country to fill all the jobs! You will have to live with people from all over all around you! They won't be stealing your jobs or making your country dark and unsafe. They will be feeding your economy and adding some colour to this place. Anyway, I have to read a lot more news reports and watch them on TV to fully grip what is happening here in this country before I have a real clear opinion on it all. But right now, looking at the results as I understand them , it sucks! Really sucks. I am sure a lot of people I know here have voted "right" - I mean how else could they have gotten so many votes today - it must be something like 1 out of every 3 or 4 people voting this way. I really don't know as I said, I'm just reading and watching the news now and I don't understand it all. But like Heidi said, the more "social" parties lost lots of votes while the more right-wing ones got bigger. With that said, it's the centrist party that is the biggest one. But because the more social parties lost so many votes and the most right-wing ones gained votes, it's indeed a black day and the country is headed in a bad direction. It could take a bit till we know what the government will look like but it seems the CD&V has the majority and Yves Leterme will be Prime Minister here.

Man it pisses me off that so many of you Belgians out there voted for Vlaams Belang and for Lijst Dedecker. Shame on you all who did! Seriously, shame on you! The only good news is that the Groen party got some more votes this time! If any of my facts are wrong here, sorry! I'm just trying to figure all of this out...
